Welcome to the Lincoln’s Inn digital archive. We are launching this section of the website to coincide with the 600th anniversary of the start of the Inn’s continuous sequence of records. To view these early records and find out more click on the link to the Black Books below.
The Inn’s Library and Archives contain a wealth of other records and manuscripts in addition to the Black Books. We are fortunate to possess the architect’s drawings for the Great Hall and Library complex, completed in 1845 to the designs of Philip Hardwick and are mid-way through an exciting project to conserve and digitise these.
The Library meanwhile holds a major collection of manuscripts, mainly legal, but also including Bibles, historical manuscripts and works of literature.
