Atkinson’s Reports
These law reports are part of our Miscellaneous Manuscripts collection, nos. 97-98. The series dates from Michaelmas 1729 to Easter 1739 and were written by an unknown hand.
An inscription at the beginning of Volume 1 states that they were purchased from John Atkinson of No. 1 Stone Buildings in 1825. The Law List of 1821 lists John Atkinson as a Special Pleader not at the Bar.
The volumes were presented to the Inn in 1855 by Charles Jasper Selwyn who was part of a family with many members of Lincoln’s Inn across different generations.
